Raising Fit Kids
According to Kids Health combining regular physical activity with a healthy diet is the key to a healthy lifestyle.
In addition to the healthy lifestyle, fit kids also tend to be more confident, get better grades and less likely to get picked on.
Here are some tips for raising fit kids:
- Help your kids participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities. Martial arts is an excellent choice since it's fun and "cool' for kids to do.
- Establish a regular schedule for physical activity. Choose an activity with a motivating positive coach that understands the importance of adopting their program to your child's skill level.
- Incorporate activity into daily routines, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. You and your child!!
- Embrace a healthier lifestyle yourself, so you'll be a positive role model for your family. Many martial arts schools have family programs and classes.
- Keep it fun, so you can count on your kids to come back for more.
- It is recommended kids get an hour of play or exercise a day including strength, endurance and flexibility.
